Q: I am about to stain a piece of Hickory wood. Should I use wood conditioner before staining or should I use wood grain filler before staining?
A: Use nothing. If the wood is natural and unfinished give it a light fine sanding, then dust it clean. Make sure to use HIGH QUALITY MATERIAL and proper staining technique. When you're done, give it a coat of Varnish to give it a shine.
